To produce, nurture, inspire and develop new, quality American plays by emerging dramatists who incite social change, and to present innovative outdoor stagings of Shakespeare FREE in NYC's Lower East Side and Bryant Park, fostering and supporting a dynamic company of professional theatre artists and bringing audiences of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds together.
FREE Shakespeare in NYC
With Shakespeare in the Parking Lot (now entering its 25th year as a New York City institution) and Bryant Park Shakespeare in the heart of Manhattan, TDC is the second-largest FREE Shakespeare producer in NYC, reaching over 10,000 patrons each summer.
New Plays
Through world premieres, the TDC Discovery Series and the ShortPlay Projects, the company has offered the development and production of countless new works since 1999.
